Getting Around the Homepage

At the top of the page, the large Apollo's Astrology emblem functions as the visual centerpiece and home identity of the site. Just below it is the main navigation bar with three core controls:

1. The menu button opens the side navigation.
2. The search box lets you search for astrology articles and guides.
3. The settings button opens your preferences panel.

The side navigation gives quick access to the site's main tools and sections, including Home, Natal Chart, Transit Chart, Planetary Returns, Fixed Stars, Current Sky, Planetary Hours, and Astrology Calendars. It also includes login access for users who want to save personal data and use account-based features.

The preferences panel is used to customize your experience. It allows you to save:

1. Birth date and time
2. Language
3. Location

These settings are especially useful because they help prefill chart tools and personalize live data displays. The site also makes clear that this preference data is saved in your browser.

3. Current Planets

This is one of the most information-rich sections on the homepage.

9. Main Current Planets table: this table displays the current positions of the visible celestial bodies. It includes:
   • The body name
   • Whether it is direct or retrograde
   • Its current zodiac position
   • Upcoming sign changes
   • Time remaining until those changes
   • A refresh button to update the data

The current location shown above the table is based on the user's chosen preferences, so the live sky information feels locally relevant.

Alongside the main table are three summary cards:

10. The Day Of: this highlights the symbolic "day of" association currently in effect.
11. Moon Phase: this card shows the current moon phase along with additional context such as sign, illumination, and whether the Moon is void of course.
12. The Hour Of: this shows the current planetary hour, including the ruling planet and the time range for that hour.

Together, these cards turn the homepage into a live astrology dashboard rather than just a landing page.

4. Next Retrograde Periods

This section gives a compact preview of upcoming retrogrades. For each planet shown, users can quickly see:

• The start date
• Whether the retrograde is happening now
• How many days remain until it begins
• How long it lasts
• Which zodiac sign it begins in

This is useful for users who want immediate timing insight without opening the full retrograde page.

3. Backward: moves backward by a smaller amount (1 unit).
4. Forward: moves forward by a smaller amount (1 unit).
5. Fast forward: moves forward by a larger amount (3 units).
6. Jump: opens a direct date/time picker so you can move immediately to a chosen moment.
7. Save date: lets you save the current chart state for later use. This is especially useful for returning to meaningful dates.
8. Reset: restores the chart to its original starting date.
9. New chart: starts a fresh chart workflow.
10. Download: lets you export the natal chart as a downloadable file.

This toolbar is especially useful for timing work, experimentation, and comparing how the chart changes over time.

Search and Content Discovery

The homepage search bar is designed for article discovery. If a user types a relevant keyword such as a planet, concept, or astrological theme, the site can suggest matching article titles. This helps connect the practical tools with the educational side of the platform.
